Discovery array and Cancel Task hangs, RM 5.1.0

Hi all, i found a question like mine, but without helpfull answer. This is my first time in this forum and have few experience in RM, almost none. I apologize because of my english.

I have RM Server 5.1.0 on Win2k3 sp2, HP-UX clients + Oracle agent... Discovery array hangs on 10% after some days of work with no errors, and the associated task can't be canceled. I restart RM server services, but the discovery array task restart automatically once again and hangs. The server debug log it is fullfilled with the following message:

2008 04 07 08:59:10 (3352) IRD. already running /*3*/
2008 04 07 08:59:10 (3352) IRD. Already running on srvft02. waiting for it. /*3*/
2008 04 07 08:59:10 (2144) IRD. already running /*3*/
2008 04 07 08:59:10 (2144) IRD. Already running on srvft01. waiting for it. /*3*/
2008 04 07 08:59:10 (3628) IRD. already running /*3*/
2008 04 07 08:59:10 (3628) IRD. Already running on srvft03. waiting for it. /*3*/

Any idea?...

You can kill irccd on the hpux hosts or restart irccd with :
# /opt/emc/rm/client/bin/rc.irclient stop | start.
srvft01,02,03
We will need to see the client debug logs from these servers.
Thx.

Hi there,

While this may have resolved the issue, I recommend you open a support call the next time it occurs.

Please run an EmcGrab on each affected host and also look to see what size the IRCCD process is in memory before killing it.

Cheers - James.

Ok James thanks, as I said this is my first time in this forum, so by the way, what is this forum for? I mean, what kind of questions may I post? maybe I misunderstood the policies for this forum, I apologize.

I don't think your questions or post are the issue. The restarting of the agents was able to get you operational again but it did not address the reason for the failure in the first place. The forums are great for getting questions like this answered but if there is a real issue with an array or application, EMC support would need to be engaged to investigate and resolve the root of the issue.

Hiya Cantwe!

I think you mis-understood my reply :-)

Your post is perfect, exactly what these forums are for :-) Problem solving, information sharing, etc ! No issue there at all!

I am just saying Ok, restarting the RM agent got you out of trouble now, but it sounds like you will find yourself in the same situation over a matter of time.

So, best for you to continue on into support and have them offically work on the issue, prehaps also with the assitance of RM engineering.

Keep posting! :-)

cheers
James.
