Autoostart Geographically dispersed

Hi all,

I am planning to use autostart across a WAN. The cluster domain will have 2 nodes. One node is in NY and the other in NJ. These 2 nodes are on different IP subnets so my question is how do I configure the virtual IP to reflect the proper ip subnets when failing over?

thanks in advance

You can configure the virtual name instead of fixed IP address - in which case Autostart will query the DNS server for the corresponding IP address to assign. You can use the script or something to update the DNS for the virtual name before it gets assigned. I've never actually thied this though, but it should work.

If you are using BIND (and some other *nix DNS servers) as your dns server you can create two different dns views one for each location with different ip addresses for the same host name.
