Xtremio with RPA
I am deploying XtremIO with RP 5.1 Snap based replication.
I am trying to understand the relationship between maximum number of snap, protection windows and RPO settings.
The RP guide mentioned for XtremIO it is recommended to set the replication to periodic. The default interval is 30 min and the RPO will be twice the specified interval and cannot be changed. The maximum number of snap per cg is 80 (default) max is 500.
My understanding is Xtremio minimum RPO is 60 seconds so in that case how should the value of periodics to be set and what is the maximum protection windows with 80 snaps per cg.

my understanding is continuous mode the mini RPO I can set to 60 sec but if I choose period mode the minimum RPO is 90 sec. the admin guide mentioned Xtremio recommended mode is periodic.

Hi there,
RP would always strive to get the lowest RPO possible so the RPO parameter is really there for notification purposes (if effective RPO goes over the current one, the user would get notified). The lowest RPO with Snap-based replication can be achieved using Continuous. The reason the recommendation is to use Periodic is snap creation and deletion actions are less intense from an array resource standpoint.
Note that with XtremIO, the protection window is configured with the required protection window parameter and the max snaps would be spread across the entire PW in accordance to the snapshot consolidation configuration (AKA snapshot pruning).

Hope that helps,
