Why are newer bookmarks deleted when recovering to an older bookmark?
We have noticed that Bookmarks disappear from the Snapshot list of a Consistency Group when we recover to a point in time that is prior to the bookmark. For example, we had four bookmarks taken several minutes apart. At about 12:40, we recovered production to the second bookmark (taken at 11:45) and the third and fourth bookmarks (taken after 11:45 but before 12:40) were gone from the snapshot list.
4/10/2015 12:46:34 PM 29.058MB
4/10/2015 12:41:27 PM 584.000BYTES Synchronization completed ({consistency-group-info})
4/10/2015 12:40:54 PM 217.000BYTES failover snapshot
4/10/2015 11:45:58 AM 5.175MB DB_Snap2
Is this normal behavior and can someone explain the process?
The EMC RecoverPoint Release 4.0 Administrator's Guide (p. 219) says that "After the production is recovered, the marking information in the production journal is deleted, and the group undergoes a “Short initialization” (p 70) to synchronize the new production data at the copies." We presume the "Synchronization completed" entry at 12:41 is the result of the "Short initialization". What exactly is the "failover snapshot"?
Thank you.

Hi Chris,
This is normal and expected behaviour. When you invoke Recover Production you roll back the data that is newer than the PiT snapshot that was selected and this data is erased from the replica journal when you resume production.
The failover snapshot is a record of the PiT snapshot that was recovered to Production. The Synchronization completed snapshot is related to the fact that Production was paused and placed in marking mode during the Recover Production process.
