what are differeneces between RocoverPoint and Data Domain

I can conceptually understand the individual product. They both basically for backup / DR. But,
how are they different to each other? what one can do, and the other can not?

Thanks in advance!

RecoverPoint is a DR replication tool. Data domain is more backup focused as you say. RecoverPoint will offer much more granular point in time copies than DD can as its a continious replication technology. RecoverPoint is journal based so you can roll to any point in time, and those point in time copies could be milliseconds apart.

Data domain is a backup tool. The copies of the backups you have are persistent. With recoverpoint there are some circumstances where the journal is reset in which case the point in time copies go away. This is why we do not position RP as a backup replacement.
