Vplex distributed volume into a RP Volume : Impact ?
Hello,
i have a customer who have Vplex Metro replication between 2 sites.
This customer wants to move the 2 site 600km away so synchronous replication is out if we choose to move one by one..
So in one shot no problem, we will move entire equipment in the same time.
But if we want to move in two steps : first step we move one site second step we move the second site.
Between the first and second step, maybe 1 or 2 weeks.
I think that RP asynchronous replication is the solution but i have many questions :
for step 1 : is it possible to convert distributed volume into a RP replication ? impact : full sweep, short init ?
and the second question
for step 2 : is it possible to convert RP replication into a distributed volume ? impact : full sweep, short init ?
Also he is possible to say to vplex and RP : ok i assume that the two devices are synchronous so no first full sweep.
right or not ?

Hi Fred,
RecoverPoint sees local or distributed volumes as separate volumes on the basis of guid, which means that if you convert in the volume is seen as a different/new volume and therefore replication has to startover in a CG with a full sweep.
Also, note that a distributed volume as a target will fracture.
