Unable to get RP4VM Plugin to show up
I am trying to setup RP4VM in a Vcenter 5.5 environment. The Target array is a XtremeIO so the storage will be Vcenter. With EMC's help we have installed vRPA 4.2. The DM deplyment finshes with out error and the cluster builds. I can see the Vcenter. It shows my ESXi hosts and reports all my VM's. For the storage I get the following error:
ERROR: Cluster wdc1emcvrpacs1 has a connectivity problem with managed array wdc1vmmgt01 reason: No connectivity with registered storage. details:
We completely removed this installation and redeployed with 4.2 P1. I am still getting the same error. My iSCSI looks good. I can ping the port from the vRPA. My ESXi hosts see the KASHYA iSCSI devices. I even tried the manual Plugin deployment (Connect via broswer to vRPA and downloaded zip file....).
My Web client is Version 5.5.0 Build 2414847
.
Thanks,
Chatch

The 7225 port has to be opened both ways. You can test it by attempting to telnet to the port or by checking with the network team. There are additional ports such as 443 that are required (see RPVM Security Guide).
It al
so seems that there is no communication with the splitter. Do you see paths and devices under the software iSCSI adapter?

Hi Chatch,
When you redeployed, did you follow the uninstall procedure outlined in the Installation & Deployment Guide esp unregistering RP extension from the vc managed objects?
Before the manual deployment of the plugin, did you see the plugin in vSphere Web client? If not, this indicates either a communication issue b/w the vRPAs and vCenter or a credential issue. Please ensure that port 7225 is open b/w VC and the vRPAs.
Once the plugin has been deployed, if it still can't see the cluster (after validating ports are open) please restart vsphere-client service and try again.
It might also be a good idea to login via CLI and run get_system_status and get_splitter_settings to validate that there are no other issues.
Thanks, Zahid

Yes the uninstall instructions were followed. I have never been able to get the plugin to show up. How do I check port 7225?
