RP4VMs, Connect Cluster Wizard failing

Hi,

I'm spinning up a small POC of RP4VMs and I've hit a snag. I have successfully created a cluster at each site, and I am trying to use the Connect Cluster Wizard to link the clusters. I get to step 6 and get the following error:

Internal error. Error: An error occurred in communication to the new cluster. If cluster connectivity is over IP, check the IP connectivity over WAN. If cluster connectivity is over Fibre Channel, check the zoning. If the problem still persists, contact EMC Customer Support for assistance.

As far as I can tell, I don't have any connectivity issues between the sites or any of the cluster/RPA IP addresses. I can ping the cluster, LAN, and WAN addresses of the opposite end from either site without a problem. I'm not sure what is going wrong here. There doesn't appear to be any troubleshooting documentation for this particular step, at least not that I have found yet.

I'm attaching my dm.log, though I have looked at it and I don't see much useful info. Any help would be much appreciated.

Update - So your post did lead me in the right direction, but after much back and forth between myself and my network team, it turns out that it was a configuration issue from within Recoverpoint. I finally found this article:

http://www.valcolabs.com/2013/09/13/recoverpoint-4-0-unable-to-join-clusters-default-gateway-and-maintenance-mode/

The solution was to manually add a 'gateway' from within RP to server as a route to the remote network, even though the same gateway was already set as the default for what was presumably everything.

Thanks

I would first login to each cluster using admin account and execute finish_maintenance_mode.

Then, try to do ping -I eth0 using the remote WAN address (boxmgmt > Diag [3] > Internal commands [5])from each side and ensure the required ports are open.

We have a similar section for troubleshooting Cluster connectivity in the traditional RP documentation, I will make sure we add it (if it's not there already) to the troubleshooting section in the RPVM deployment guide.

Typically this is a routing/GW issue.

Thanks,

Zahid

Zahid, thanks for the reply. This led me in the right direction, and it does appear that there is a routing/GW issue after all. Much appreciated.
