RP4VM Network configuration for failover and failback
Hi.. Looking for some guidance on RP4VM network reconfiguration for failover and failback. I need the VM to have a new IP, Netmask, gateway configurations while doing failover to remote site and rollback to orginal IP, Netmask and gateway while doing a failback. The following document https://www.emc.com/collateral/TechnicalDocument/docu79476.pdf (Page 45) has a reference to this topic, but it is not straight forward while trying to implement. If anyone able to accomplish this successfully, please share the steps. Thanks!

Hi.. I don't think video mentions about defining new IP, Netmask, gateway. Any other inputs?

It does show how to configure new IP properties on a replica copy (meaning the replica VM), if there's a need to change parameters on failback (second failover) then edit the IP configuration of the production copy.
hope that helps,

The only available option is to specify VM network (VLAN). The IP configuration of VM up on a fail over is blank at remote site although it gets configured in to the specified VLAN. I'm looking for a way to automate fail over IP configuration, so that when a failover is initiated VM always gets a predefined IP, netmask and gateway and remote site. Also, when a failback is initiated it should have IP, netmask and gateway configuration for primary site.

Hi there,
Yes, RPVM features a capability to specify the network which would be used when failing over (on a per vNIC basis), starting with RPVM 5.1.
Now, as for IP configuration, Re-IP can be configured on a per copy basis so that when failing over, a new IP configuration can be applied. for a new IP configuration when failing back (second failover), Re-IP would need to be configured on the (original) production copy.
Hope that helps,
