Recoverpoint to two different remote sites
I have a customer who needs to replicate from a primary site to two remote sites, both over a thousand kilometers away from the primary. Assuming this is a viable design, they'll have a VNX array in each location. The replication would be of the same set of LUNs.
I've been having trouble figuring out if this is supported, and if so what they would need to buy. Replication to a remote site and to a local site at the same time is supported, but it's not clear to me if two remote sites are supported. Would I need two RP clusters at the primary site? Or should I be looking at something else? What would the licensing look like?
Any help, including pointers to documentation, would be greatly appreciated.

This is not supported by RecoverPoint for the same set of LUNs -- RecoverPoint is a point to point porduct, but multi-site support for the same set of LUNs is top of the request list and we hope to address it soon. The first release next year will let you replicate the same LUN to 4 different sites. Fell free to contact me off line (gary.archer@emc.com) for additional information.

Thanks Gary. I'll send you an email with a couple of questions.
Thanks also to the other person who replied in email. I thought it was an email notification for a follow-up to this post, so unfortunately I deleted it after reading.

Do either of you have any official EMC documentation which describes this config? I have a customer who wants to configure the same setup (RP cluster at two different remote sites replicating back to a single RP cluster at their Head office). Apparently my searching skills are getting rusty as i've only found documentation talking to cascaded configurations.

Hi Denny,
As per the original response, this capability currently does not exist within a single RecoverPoint cluster. However, it is a feature that will be part of the next release, 4.0. This feature is the Multi-Copy feature which will allow up to four different site copies of the source. Each site will require it's own set of RPAs to facilitate this.

Sorry, should have specified that the source LUNs, being replicated to each site, would be different. Does that change things?

It doesn't change things as each site would require RPAs which form a local cluster at each site and at this time we can only replicate within the same local site cluster (CDP) or between two local cluster at diffierent sites (CRR) or both of these simultaneously, (CLR which is CDP+CRR but the same source to two copies). There is a slight exception to this which is CLR with stretch CDP which is marketed as cascaded RP. However, this does not allow for your requirement because you require the replication of two separate source LUNs to two separate sites.
The new Multi-Copy (Multi-Site) feature in 4.0 will allow for this so at this time you would require two separate RP clusters and a splitter at the source site which can manage more than one RP cluster, i.e.CLARiiON, VNX , Symmetrix or VPLEX.

That is what I thought. Thank you very much for the clarification.
