RecoverPoint Stretched CDP and CRR
I have the following RecoverPoint configuration and want to make sure that this will actually work and that it's supported. The array based splitter is used on all arrays:
1xVNX5300 replicating to a CX4-120 = streteched CDP (fibre)
The same VNX5300 replication to a CX3-10c = CRR (ip)
VNX5300 = latest Flare 31
CX4-120 = latest Flare 30
CX3-10c = Flare 26 patch .032
I checked the ESM and RP 3.4.x is supported on the Flare levels listed above.
My questions in regards to the above set up are:
1. Can I replicate the same LUN on the VNX5300 to the CX4-120 and the CX3-10c? For example, I want to replicate LUN 1 to the CX4-120 via stretched CDP and that same LUN I also want to replicate to the CX3-10c via CRR. Is that supported?
2. I have a mix of GEN3 and GEN4 appliances. Is that going to be an issue? The RPAs attached to the CX3-10c are GEN3 and the RPAs attached to the VNX5300 and the CX4-120 are GEN4. Any limitations on that side?
3. Anything else that I should be aware of?
Thanks.
Ernes.

1st the RecoverPoint splitter will not allow the same LUN to be replicated by two RecoverPoint cluster instances.
2nd if you are using RecoverPoint/SE then it does not support streched CDP, instead you would use CRR between the VNX5300 and the CX4-120 as well as CRR between the VNX5300 and the CX3-10c.
If you use RecoverPoint/EX or RecoverPoint/CL then you only have ONE RecoverPoint cluster instance and you use a stretch CDP for the first copy of the LUN (to the CX4-120) and use CRR for the 2nd copy of the LUN (to the CX3010c)

Hi Eric -- yes in this configuration you would be using RecoverPoint/CL or RecoverPoint/EX. As to your specific questions:
1 - Yes -- You have your production on the VNX5300, the local (CDP) replica is on the CX4-120 and the remote (CRR) replica is on the CX3-10.
2 - Intermixing of GEN3 and GEN4 is allowed; however if you intermix you will not see the replication deduplication option as that requires a homogeneous GEN4 environment. If you have the flexibility then EMC's best practices are to have RPAs that are paird together to be the same verision, though that is not required. For example RPA1 on the CX3-10 and RPA1 on the CX4-120 should be the same generation (GEN3 or GEN4), the same for RPA2, and so forth.
3. You can't replicate a LUN from the VNX5300 into the same VNX5300 and to the CX3-10 and to the CX4-120. Also if you lose the site that has the CX3-10c then changes to production luns in the VNX5300 can't be repliated to the CX4-120, but the data at the CX4-120 will be preserved.

Thank you Gary for the prompt reply.
#3 on your reply. I will not be creating a copy of LUN 1 on the VNX5300. LUN 1 will be the production LUN on the VNX5300 which will be replicated to CX4-120 via streteched CDP as well as copied to the CX3-10c via CRR. So I'm good on that.
One thing I forgot to mention is that the VNX5300 will have two RP Clusteres attached to it. One 2-node RP cluster will be used for VNX5300-to-CX4-120 (stretched CDP) and the second 2-node RP cluster will be used for VNX5300-to-CX3-10c (CRR). So that means that the array splitter will be shared among two RP clusters. There are no issue with replicating the same LUN by using two RP Clusters, correct?
Thanks!

Got it. I have RP/EX. Perfect, thank you again!
