Recoverpoint, questions about luns of journal

Hi

I can assign source luns created a vmax and luns of journal created in a VNX?
I can make that mix?
Are there any best practice in this regard?
I can get documentation on this case?

Thanks for all the help

Hello,

Yes, you can have this mix. The best practice would be to ensure that whatever mix you chose with the journal volumes, that they can handle the performance required for replicated data so that they don't become the bottleneck during ongoing replication given a difference in storage class. This would be in addition to the other general best practices with regards to journal volumes in general.

In terms of documentation, there is some documentation about this with regards to RP/EX usage (assuming appropriate licensing in the cluster) in the Admin Guide (assuming 4.x in this reply) under the journal section that would imply support for this:

(page 23) Note: In RecoverPoint EX, journal volumes can be located on non-licensed arrays.

The illustrations in the guide also show a variety of different array LUNs when choosing journal volumes.
