Recoverpoint LUN masking
Hello,
Is it normal behavior for the Recoverpoint SE Cluster to see all the LUNs on a VNX5800 array? This is a new configuration for us. Our existing configuration consists of a pair of VMAX arrays with Recoverpoint EX. We've also had a VNX5300 connected to the same Recoverpoint cluster as the VMAX and the LUNs only showed once placed in the associated Recoverpoint Storage Group on the array.
As a result, I would like to know if this normal behavior for the SE edition perhaps or is something setup wrong here?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin this is correct for RP SE w VNX. RP SE w vnx has tighter integration. You will see all the luns on the array and if you select a particular lun to be protected RP will tell VNX to put that lun into the RP storage group. Less steps for you.

Hi Kevin,
Yes - this is working as expected. In RP/SE, all LUN masking operations are being simplified by RP and it's integration with VNX. This means that the RP user will be able to see all LUNs in the VNX system. Once the user chooses to use one of the LUNs (i.e. production, replica or journal volumes), RP will send a command to the VNX to add that LUN to the RPA SG.
Hope that helps,
Idan
