Recoverpoint for VMs 4.3 Install Issues
I am attempting to deploy Recoverpoint for VMs(4.3c.112) for evaluation to see if I want to purchase this to replace SRM. I am using the latest Deployment Wizard.
I get to step 14.1 , Storage Configuration.
I give it my vCenter ip address, administrator@vsphere.local username and password.
on Recoverpoint administrator credentials - it defaults to the admin user account. I tried to ssh with admin/admin and it doesn't work. So I am using boxmgmt/boxmgmt which will ssh into the box.
Then on 14.2
I can see my datastore, It has over 700 GB free for the repository. Being I am just trying a VM or two, I think it should be big enough.
I then click next, and I watch the virtcenter, reconfigure the vRPA, suspend and resume the VM, while it is configuring the RPA cluster repository on the selected datastore. It then attempts to configures the respository volume and it errors out. Saying Failed to configure to repository volume. Contact EMC for assistance.
It did make RPvStorage folder in the VMFS Store and the 6 gig VMDK file.
I did trying increase the timeout for VMs from 120 to 360 and it didn't fix help.
Here's the tail end of the log.
Any thoughts on what isn't working?

Not sure if this matters or not, I am using vcenter 5.5 update 3 with the default self signed cert. I am using this as a proof of concept before purchasing. I also tried to attach the log file and it won't let me.

5.5 Update 3 is officially unsupported as far as the Support Matrix goes which means that it hasn't qualified.

Prior to this step can you confirm that each ESXI host has the splitter installed and an iSCSI software adapter configured with the relevant vmkernel ports? You also need to enable ssh on all of the ESXi hosts.
What type of datastore is being used for the repository and it is presented across all of the ESXi hosts in the ESX HA cluster?

OK, remove the RPvStorage sub-directory from the datastore and then power down/up all of the vRPAs. Then give DM another try.
If this fails again recheck iSCSI connectivity between your ESXi hosts and the vRPAs.

I removed the directory, and power off/on the the esxi host, vRPA.
from the ESXi hosts, I ping the vRPAs and the vKernel ISCSI ports.
In the dm.log file, I see system unable to configure the repository volume. Not sure why, It did create a volume. The last step it ran on the virtcenter is "Suspend and resume the virtual machine".

I haven't seen on the support matrix on the elabs on vcenter versions, just esxi (hosts) versions.

Any ideas?
During the process of configuring of repository volumes, I see the Kashya iscsi devices disappear, then never come back till I do a rescan all on the iscsi software adapter. I have never done the iscsi software before this, I'm not sure if that is the issue or something I need to do special inside UCS?

Idan,
yes, I'm using the software iSCSI Software Adapter and they are bound to the two VMkernel adapters The VMkernel adapters and the iSCSI adapters on the vRPAs are on the VLAN and same subnet.

Are the two VMKs on the same vSwitch/dVswitch ?
If there's one dVswitch for iSCSI communication, there should be only 1 VMK per that vDs.
Can you share your VMK to vSwitch/dVswitch config ?

Idan,
There is only 1 vSwitch for iSCSI communication. I have now removed one VMK for the switch. So there is now only one. I have attached the pictures If there is other information needed to solve the puzzle. Just let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin
