RecoverPoint best practices for Exchange and SQL
Hi All,
I am looking for best practices for RecoverPoint replicating Exchange and SQL, in particular, what are the pros and cons for using or not using KVSS, and how it works, as well as other gotchas?
Also, does Exchange DAG have anything to do with RecoverPoint replication? As far as I understand it is a Microsoft mechanism for protecting the mailboxes, isn't it?
Any input is appreciated.

You are good. Definitely recommend that you look into software like EMC AppSync/Replication Manager

There are tech notes on the support site. There's one for SQL and one for Exchange. See screenshot below for the links below. Not copy/pasting the links since this post will go to the moderator. Check out a couple of youtube videos on using AppSync with RecoverPoint.

All images are crash consistent. The reason why you would use KVSS is to create application consistent images. Application consistent images are 100% reliable.

Thanks, these docs are more than two years old, EMC should revise them and make them more up to date.
I have read them a few times already, trying to make sense of them, but still do not quite get the idea for KVSS, except, like I read in one of the posts, it makes the image recovery faster. However there are also issues reported with it too. Therefore, trying to research as much as possible of pros and cons, before making a decision.

It doesn't run automatically. You would have to create a script and schedule it to run.
What splitter are you using?

Do KVSS bookmarks run automatically after you install the tool? Does it matter for KVSS tool which type of splitter is used?
