Many or fewer Consistency Groups
Hi All,
Still early days for me with recoverpoint, although I have successfully configured and tested a few fail-over and fail-back tests that are SRM managed.
I have a client that has a consistency group already active and configured with one source volume 6 TB in size.
The client wants now to add 25 TB, they have identified 4 different groups with 3 VMs in each group that make up an application (i.e 4 different vApps - total 12 VMs).
The options I have are:
1- Add new replication sets to the existing consistency group and increase the Journal volume size by adding new volumes - (stripe)
2- Create a new consistency group and Journal volumes for all 12 VMs to be protected. (obviously VMs will be relocated to LUNs that will be replicated).
3- Create four new consistency group - 1 for each vApp.
What option would be more recommended? the client wishes to run a DR test via SRM only for the new 12 VMs that will be protected. Client is not aware of the replication solution that we use (i.e RP/Consistency Groups...etc). All they care about is to see the VMs failed-over and started successfully.

I would recommend using a CG for each vApp and then allow SRM to control them in a single PG.
