Expand RecoverPoint Journals or add new LUNs?
I'm running RP/SE v4.0 SP2. I need to increase the journal sizes for several consistency groups prior to our upcoming DRE. In earlier versions of RP I believe it was required to increase journaling by adding LUNs (of the same size). Is it possible to expand the capacity of the existing journal LUNs?

Hi,
This is possible to do at the array level, but it will result in a wipe of the journal history and full sweep of the CG so it is recommended to simply add new jvol LUNs, which is an online task. The 4.0 Admin Guide has more info on this. I have copied an pasted a portion of it here (page 191):

Thank you for the additional information. I shouldn't be running up against those limitations but it is good to know and I'll keep it in mind.

I want to add a couple of cautionary aspects to Keith's response.
Firstly, please be mindful of the default journal limit which is 1.2TB. If you want to expand the journal beyond this limit you will need to disable and then re-enable the CG.
Secondly, also be mindful of initial allocation as noted in the 4.0 and 4.1 Release Notes. If a CG was initially allocated with less than 363GB (3x < 1.09TB) and now requires journal space beyond the 1.09TB limit, then the only option is to disable the CG, allocate Journal space and then re-enable the CG.
