EMC RecoverPoint version and vCenter Version
Hi all,
I wanted to ask if anyone has info about EMC Recoverpoint 4.0.x or 4.1.x versions being compatible with vCenter 5.5 U2?
The support matrix below shows both are compatible with 5.5 but does not say anything about 5.5 U1 or U2?

https://support.emc.com/docu47558_Simple-Support-Matrix-RecoverPoint-4.0.x.pdf?language=en_US
Thoughts?

Hi,
Are you referring to RecoverPoint support with SRM ? The table in the simple support matrix refers to RP support with SRM using the RP SRA.
If the question is on general supportability with no relation to SRM then the answer is that RP 4.0 and 4.1 (not to be confused with RP4VM 4.2) is managed from Unisphere for RecoverPoint and not through vCenter. It works on a LUN level so it does not matter if the host using it is ESX or a physical host.
It's worth mentioning that RP has integration with vCenter which enables to see which VMs are on protected datastores. Also, Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) for RecoverPoint is a vCenter plugin which provides visibility into RP. Please refer to the VSI support matrix for compatible RP and vCenter versions.
Hope that helps,
Idan

I was referring to the software version of RecoverPoint Appliances (not adapter version - SRA). So wondering if they are OK with vCenter 5.5 U2 or U1.
From your response it seems RP 4.0/4.1 (as its managedwith Unisphere) is working at a LUN level so doesn't matter what vCenter or ESXi hosts are running on? Sorry for my ignorance - just planning out a vCenter upgrade and want to ensure all is at supported level.
We will have the following eventually (after the upgrades):
vCenter 5.5.U2
EMC SRA: 2.2.0
SRM: 5.5.
RecoverPoint @ 4.0.1 --> wondering if this is supported with the above or needs to be updated etc.
hope it makes sense

Got a response from support saying their matrix needs to be updated to accommodate 5.5 U2 - i think i'm good on this. Thanks for the response!

vCenter config in RP is not mandatory, even if you have SRM integration. It's really only for granular display of VM info in the RPA Clusters dash.
As you've rightly said, RP is working at the Array/LUN level. There is a bug in RP 4.1.0 that prevents you from even adding in the vCenter servers, but it has no effect on operations, and this was fixed in 4.1 SP1
