Do I need ISCSI adapters for each host?
Hello,
I have about 15 hosts spread out among 3 clusters.
I am deploying 2 vRPA's in a cluster config.
This may be a dumb questio, but couldn't find a definitive answer in the guide.
Do I need to setup vmkernel ports and iscsi adapters on all my hosts, if they have VM's running on them I need protected?
Thanks,
Brandon

Hi,
I see this tagged for RP4VMs so I will assume that is what is being used. If that is the case, then yes, you will need to have the VIB installed on every ESX in the cluster to protect the VM (DRS/HA movement), a software iSCSI HBA added and configured, and iSCSI virtual switches with the vmkernel ports for each host. These are used to facilitate the communication between the ESX hosts and the vRPA's, so as you move the vRPA's and VM's around between hosts, they can split and protect the VM's running on those ESX hosts.

Hi Brandon, I assume your question is on RPVM. Yes, every host needs to be able to communicate and send writes to the vRPAs. So you need to enable the software iSCSI adapter and use VMK ports on every host. Please refer to the RPVM Deployment Guide.
Thanks
