Conflicting java version between RPA SE 3.5 SP2 and DM 2.1
Hello All,
Plan :- We are planning to perform the RPA code upgrade for RPA SE 3.5 SP2 to 4.0 SP2 P2.
Issue:- On one of the Jump server we have java version 1.6.0_45 and with this I can access the RPA GUI 3.5 fine, but when I try to run DM 2.1 it say incompatible JAVA need to update to version 1.7 or later. On another Jump server we have updated Java 7 and there I cannot access the GUI of RPA 3.5. So i am in middle of no where, and don't know what really needs to be done.
Any suggestion to fix this situation, we have committed to perform this upgrade on Friday and we are left with just 1 day to come up with some plan.

Hi Ivan,
There is a fix for this. You can either contact EMC Support or I can upload the required file and instructions to an ftp link for you to download.

Rich

Hello Forshr,
I did opened up an SR 71624770 with EMC support, being a P3 i am still waiting for someone to contact.
It would be really wonderful if you may kindly share the solution via ftp so that I can request support to close the SR.

Hello Rich,
I downloaded the package and followed the instruction, changed the IP in the notepad to the floating IP and when I run RP DIONE GUI it ask for id and password.
When I am entering the admin credentials it is not accepting it and throwing me with below error message.
05/27 14:34:51 - Worker-0 - LoginDialog.doLogin(): got ConnectionInfo
Any suggestions here?
If you need details regarding the environment do let me know, will share that with you.

Yes, go for it Ivan as you only need access to one side of the system to facilitate the process.

Hello Rich,
I tried clearing the java cache but still it is not working, I have tried pulling the GUI on chrome, it gives me a pop up to upgrade the Java version.
Do you have any other suggestions for me.
Rich, as DM is able to run with the current java version on one of the jump server where I cannot access the GUI of RPA 3.5 SP2. Do you think that I should be able to perform the RPA upgrade to 4.0 without any fail from the same jump server as ultimately I have to upgrade the RPA code from 3.5 to 4.0 as per the plan.
I tried running the DM and was able to reach to the point where it ask for code upgrade file via local machine so I have a positive feeling that I should be able to perform the upgrade without need of accessing GUI.
What is your view on this?
I really appreciate your support so far, it was very knowledgeable and very supportive throughout.

Hello Rich,
RPA was successfully upgraded to version 4.0, I did faced issue during the upgrade as it was giving me some error related to insufficient Journal for the CG which was in disabled state and was not required in future.
To fix that I removed that CG and afterward it moved swiftly.
Thank you very much for your professional support and knowledge.

Ivan Skinner

Hi Ivan,
Sounds like you hit the 10GB component LUN size requirement limit for the journal. Sorry the java fix didn't work but glad you were able to work around it.
Enjoy your weekend.
