What is the best way to update a PowerEdge R730 Bios and IDRAC ?

Hello

I'm looking for advice on updating an older Dell PowerEdge server. My system is currently running

Bios Version: 1.0.4
IDRAC Settings Version 2.00.00.44
IDRAX Firmware Version 2.02.01

I'd like to bring these and any other essential components up to the latest versions. What's the best approach for updating such an old system? Are there any specific steps or precautions I should take?I've heard there might be some challenges when jumping from very old versions to the newest ones. Any tips or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

ISO dos not do incremental updates:

You can try straight upgrade if no go, try doing smaller jumps. For that checking all release notes will be helpful.

Hello, we recommend you go with BIOS upgrade first then move on to iDRAC.

I have a R730 with iDRAC 2.40.40.40, BIOS 2.3.4.

Are you recommending to INCREMENTALLY update to each BIOS version until the latest (2.19.0), then do the same for IDRAC until its latest (2.86.86.86)?

I'm 15 versions behind for BIOS and 17 for iDRAC. This will take days to complete.

I am told in another forum that there is a specific ISO that will do this updating automatically and in the steps necessary.

What is that ISO?

This file:

LCDRVPCK_WIN_23.02.200.3.ISO

I can boot off that. But, will it incrementally do the update?
