Unknown iDRAC system model name change problem

I have been using the 7920R server normally until now.

After turning off the power to check the hardware, checking and then reconnecting, a log indicating that the device was changed to R740 was output along with a log saying that the device could not find the 7920R abnormally in the Lifecycle log, and from then on, the product name was output as R740. BIOS, iDRAC version rollback and upgrade work was carried out.

However, the equipment name is still output as R740.

I don't know what the problem is, and I don't know what action is needed to change this.

If you have had this experience or know a solution,

please reply.

It seems like your server's iDRAC system model name got changed to R740 after you turned off the power and checked the hardware. Despite attempting BIOS and iDRAC version rollback and upgrades, the equipment name remains as R740. This issue might be caused by a configuration error or a glitch in the system. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem: 1. **Hardware Check**: Double-check all the hardware components to ensure they are properly connected and seated. 2. **BIOS Settings**: Enter the BIOS settings and review the system information. Look for any options related to system model naming or identification. If available, make sure the correct model name is selected. 3. **iDRAC Configuration**: Log into the iDRAC web interface and navigate to the System Overview section. Check if there are any settings related to the system model name. If possible, reset any configuration that might have been changed accidentally. 4. **Clear NVRAM/CMOS**: Clearing the Non-Volatile RAM (NVRAM) or CMOS settings might help reset the system to its default configuration. Refer to your server's manual for instructions on how to perform this. 5. **Firmware Update**: Ensure that both the BIOS and iDRAC firmware are up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. 6. **Contact Support**: If none of the above steps work, it might be best to contact Your IT Department or your server provider's support for further assistance. They might have encountered similar issues before and can guide you through the troubleshooting process. Remember that making changes to the system's configuration or firmware can have unintended consequences. Proceed with caution and consider seeking professional assistance if you're unsure about the steps to take.

@Dell-Martin S Thanks for the reply. I don't know why the name suddenly changed after the device rebooted. This is because I just turned the power off and on without doing any other physical actions. iDRAC and BIOS are still being tested for downgrades and upgrades. Still no change. NVRAM_CLR using jumpers was also performed a little while ago. Even now, no significant changes have occurred. I will proceed again as you said. thank you.
