Trying to Rebrand GSA T5 (OEMR R730xd) Back to Stock Dell
Hi,
I have two GSA T5 servers (OEMR R730xd) with BIOS 1.5.4 and identity module 1.01. I am trying to rebrand them back to stock Dell to use in my homelab. I searched different forums for information and have not been successful. People say they have completed the rebranding but I seem to be missing something.
- Removed the TPM from the motherboard and all disks from the system
- Booted Ubuntu 22.04.1 Jammy from a USB
- Added Dell community repositories
- Installed racadm (via the srvadmin-all metapackage)
- Ran `racadm systemerase bios,idrac,lcdata`
- Changed the motherboard jumpers to disable password and clear NVRAM
- Now I can access System BIOS and iDRAC
- Tried to install 3Y3J5_Cust_1_00.pm (`racadm update -f`)
- RED004: The job cannot be run because of an unknown issue.]
- Tried racadm racreset hard and installing 3Y3J5 and it did not change the error
- Updated BIOS to 2.16.0, iDRAC to 2.83.83.83, and NIC to 19.5.12
- Tried to install 3Y3J5_Cust_1_00.pm (`racadm update -f` and via iDRAC web)
- RED107: Unable to complete the job because of an error during iDRAC firmware update.
- The server is still booting with Google's logo
I am hoping you are able to help answer my questions:
- Is there a guide that explains all the steps? I read the installation instructions for the 3Y3J5 ID Module.
- What does the RED107 error mean? How can I resolve the issue?
- Do I need to use the 3Y3J5_CustBSU_1_00.pm file? I read that is only used for replacement motherboards. The Dell guide says not to use the BSU file.
- Am I missing any steps to unbrand Google from the server?
- After the unbranding is successful is the only next step to install 2P6YJ_R730xdDBE_Cust_1_00.pm to rebrand with Dell?
Regards,
Jared
