Slot failed on backplane, had to move drive to another slot
I have a dell r640 server with perc H740P mini controller. Total of 4 drives in a raid10. I have a slot that is failing on me, and I had to move the drive to another slot. The disk is now showing as foreign. and the original slot is showing the disk as removed. Can you please tell me how to fix this without data loss?
As for how I know the slot failed, multiple drives have been inserted in this slot and they keep showing as removed after a day or two.

solved by:
in drac, goto storage area, then controller, and then in action dropdown, foreign configuration. Clear foreign configuration, it will only affect the foreign drive, and no other virtual disks. Drive goes to ready state, assign as global hot spare, virtual disk that is degraded will take the global and rebuild to it. Once rebuilt, virtual disk is healthy. To clear removed status of the empty slot, clear drac event logs, then reboot the drac.
I had already typed this in a nicer way, but lost it, I'm guessing due to a session timeout. Wanted to share to help others.
