RX11: PCIe card in Riser not reckognized in LOM
Hi everyone,
I have a Poweredge RX11 without OS. I installed a PCIe card (https://nateurope.com/product/npcie-uplink-o/) in slot 3, which is (like all other PCIe slots) in a riser-cage. Installed in a PC, the card is enumerated in the PCIe network as "System peripheral: PLX Technology, Inc. Device 87d0", so I can assume, that at least the PCIe-endpoint of the card is functional. But installed in the riser, the PCIe overview in the LOM states, that the slot is empty, without any error message.
Could it be, that the card would be discovered during the OS boot-up?
Do PCIe cards need to fulfill some specifications, to work with a riser?

Hi, you can try updating the BIOS and iDRAC to the latest versions and then re-enabling the slot and testing it again. please review this article https://dell.to/3NFDcoC;
I'm not sure about the compatibility of your PCIe card with the riser. While it is a possibility that the PCIe card is not compatible with the server's hardware or there is an issue with the riser, it's worth attempting to troubleshoot the issue by trying to install the card in a different PCIe slot or riser to see if that resolves the problem.

What system is this and how many CPUs do you have in your system?
Often times on multi CPU systems some PCIe slots are assigned to the CPU 2 PCIe lanes.
If you only have 1 CPU look on the riser itself and printed on the PCB there should be a reference to what CPU the slot is associated with.

I should read all the words, somehow didn't notice the XR11...
