I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you're experiencing with your server. The "SYS1003 System CPU Resetting" message usually indicates a reset triggered by the system's hardware, which could be due to a variety of reasons ranging from power issues to hardware malfunctions.

Since you've already updated and reinstalled the iDRAC firmware and BIOS, we can rule out software issues related to these components. Here are a few steps we can take to further diagnose and possibly resolve the issue:

  1. Check Server Logs: If you haven't already, please review the server logs through iDRAC. These logs can provide more detailed information about what is happening just before the server reboots.

  2. Hardware Diagnostic Test: Run a full hardware diagnostic test. This can be done through the iDRAC interface or Dell's hardware diagnostic tools. It will help in identifying if there's a specific hardware component causing the issue.

  3. Power Supply Check: Ensure that the power supply to the server is stable and consistent. Sometimes fluctuations in power supply can cause such issues.

  4. Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause the system to reboot. Ensure that your server's cooling system is working properly and that it's not being housed in an overly warm environment.

  5. Inspect Hardware Components: If possible, inspect the hardware components such as memory (RAM), CPU, and motherboard for any signs of damage or failure.

  6. Contact Dell Support: Since the issue is quite specific and persists after firmware updates, it's advisable to contact Dell's technical support. They can provide more targeted assistance, especially if the issue is related to hardware that may need replacement or repair.

Please try these steps and let me know if there's any change in the server's behavior. If the problem continues, I'd recommend reaching out to Dell Support for further assistance. You can contact them via https://dell.to/41OcBeh, or by calling their technical support line specific to your region.

I hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with.

Best regards,

Hello, Maybe a task from the software environment triggered the operation? Which tasks did the server execute at that time? Please ensure the BIOS version is at least 2.9.1 Intel microcode update in BIOS 2.9.1 fixes the particular case. Then please make disable "QPI Link power management" under BIOS settings and processor settings. The default is "Enabled". Change this setting to "Disabled".

Hope that helps!

yes. solution was to turn of front panel power button then apply the bios update later,  other interesting thing after that in some months  older bios was shown in the idrac but it did not cause issues. the only thing i cant get working is the idrac service module inside debian 12.

Hi,

I am assuming you are also having the same server model, R430? - Is the BIOS and iDRAC firmware updated?

So far, what troubleshooting that you have done? Have you also run the ePSA test?

Have you tried also minimum components to post and check the issue.

  1. System Board
  2. CPU1 with heat sink (minimum for troubleshooting)
  3. Single DIMM in socket A1
  4. Control panel with cable (to power the system on)
