R730XD RAID for hosting drive
Using SCVM for 3 different hosts. I want to use RAID for hosting drive, and HBA pass through to rest of drives. What's the best solution to do this? Its possible on the R730XD correct? I don't have the ability to migrate VMs somewhere else. (Right now, I'm using spinning drives and I'm already at limit. Not opposed to using SSDs for storage if cheap enough.. but okay with using HDDs. )
Thanks in advance for your support.

What storage controller you have on the server? If you have a supported controller, you can explore Non Raid disk mode. You can refer below link for details

Hi @S3rverSavvs,
Considering, you want to use both RAID and HBA mode simultaneously, you are not able to achieve this with R730XD support RAID controller card. But, for R730XD, it is possible to install 2 RAID controllers, 1 for RAID and 1 for HBA Non-RAID, split mode.

Thanks for the response. So can I use an HBA 330 daughter card and RAID 730 PCIe card to accomplish this?
Thank you!

Hello S3rverSavvs,
I will ask Joey to check the link. It says for dual PERC H730p controllers and does not mention HBA/PERC combination.
What you could try is make the disk you want for passthrough as Non-Raid (see link below.)

Hi @S3rverSavvs,
You can only use H730P for dual controller setup. Page 32, first paragraph: https://dell.to/3Ko9VNO
Apologies, I might have provided misunderstood information. What I meant for HBA in meaning of Non-RAID mode which Charles has provided the article for it.
