R730 DIMM slot failures - workaround?
One of our R730s is showing DIMM failure in slots A4 and A8. The DIMMs have been replaced multiple times with known good ones, so the assumption is there is something wrong with the two different slots. There are 16 x 64GB dimms and I am wondering if it is alright to populate A9 and A10 with the dimms and have the server still operate normally. Or can we expect strange issues?

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. Memory slots can't be fixed, I'm afraid you need to replace your motherboard.

I realize the memory slots cannot be fixed. What I am asking is if I can leave channel 3 slots A4,A8,A12 slots open, and just use the slots for channels 0, 1, and 2 to populate to 512G. I can continue to run it with 384G for that processor, but if it can run without channel 3 populated and 512G of RAM, i would rather do that until we can replace the server.
