R730 - BIOS Update
Hello,
I have an R730 currently at BIOS 2.11. I see the latest version is 2.16 and wanted to know whether I can directly upgrade to 2.16 or should I walk it up. Looks like there were 3 updates (2.12.1, 2.13, and 2.15) also available. I know it's likely a best practice if the BIOS is way behind, but in this case is it safe to make the leap?
Thanks!

generally, it is always recommended to update the BIOS firmware of your server to the latest version available. However, it is also important to follow the correct upgrade path to ensure that the BIOS is updated correctly and without any issues.
In your case, as you are currently at BIOS version 2.11 and the latest version is 2.16, you can directly upgrade to the latest version. This is because the changes made in the intermediate versions (2.12.1, 2.13, and 2.15) are likely included in the latest version (2.16).
However, as a good practice to check the release notes for the latest version of the BIOS to see if there are any specific instructions or requirements for the upgrade process. You should also make sure to take a backup of your system and data before proceeding with the BIOS update to avoid any potential data loss or system issues
it's also important to ensure that the server is running on stable power and there are no interrupts during the update process, as a power outage or any other such interruption could cause the BIOS update to fail and potentially damage the system.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell. You can go straight to the latest, along with iDRAC.
