R660 TPM 7.2.4.1 Update Failed
I'm attempting to upgrade the R660 TPM firmware from 7.2.3.1 to 7.2.4.1 via the openmanage vmware lifecycle manager. However, it's showing the update Failed in iDRAC. Is anyone else seeing this TPM 7.2.4.1 firmware update fail? Is there a way to see why it failed?

Exactly the same problem here using the OME appliance. Updated it this morning to 4.6 but the issue remains. Tried several different R660s too.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I suspect the issue is with the update itself, not OME. I may try to contact Dell support if I'm able to collect the TSR from iDRAC.

Hello,
There seems to be a problem with the catalog.
I will report this to the Systems Management team.
For now you can download the TPM update for your server. There should be two of them. If one fails try the other one.
R660
https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/poweredge-r660/drivers
Select Security, it should have two entries.
Download both and apply. One of them should work.

Hello,
Unfortunately, neither of the TPM updates works.
One of the updates ends with an error during execution, and the other immediately reports that it is not applicable for this system.
We have tested this on multiple servers:
PowerEdge R660
PowerEdge R650xs
PowerEdge R450
In all cases, the TPM update could not be applied.

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Pre-Update Checks:
F2at boot) → System Security → Confirm TPM is:EnabledReadystate (notLockedorOwned)BIOS → System Security → TPM 2.0 Security → Clear TPM(Required for firmware updates)
2. Update Procedure Adjustments:
(Upload the .EXE/.BIN file directly)
3. If TPM Remains Stubborn:
tpm.msc→ Clear TPM(Caution: Destroys encryption keys!)
tpm2_clear -c pBIOS → System Maintenance → Restore Settings4. Known Dell-Specific Workarounds:
TPM 7.2.4.1 may require BIOS ≥ 2.8.0 (verify in Release Notes)
5. Escalation Path:
/var/log/syslog(Linux) or System Event Log (Windows)6. Wait for updates from System Management team

Same for reference systems. Two R760
Update try with OME
Unable to update the Nuvoton TPM 2.0 firmware to version 7.2.4.1 because the operation is not supported or the device is in a locked state or the device is not present in the target system.
All Update lates level (only TPM missing)
TPM Update from 7.2.2.0 to 7.2.4.1 failed.
Post from Dell-Martin S not realy Helpfully...
Options in Bios not avalible.
Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Pre-Update Checks:
F2at boot) → System Security → Confirm TPM is:EnabledReadystate (notLockedorOwned)BIOS → System Security → TPM 2.0 Security → Clear TPM(Required for firmware updates)

Hello,
Could you provide the TPM part number you have?
Go to the Support Page:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us
Enter the service tag of the server
Go to Product Specifications
Expand the list and search for TPM
It should give you the part number of the TPM installed

Nleva,
This should be the correct TPM firmware for the R660. Please make sure the BIOS is up-to-date prior to updating as well.
Dell Server PowerEdge BIOS Version 2.8.2
BIOS_GPMNW_WN64_2.8.2.EXE
Dell PowerEdge 15G/16G Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Firmware 7.2.4.1
Only for TPM parts 948W4, 151Y6, 0PTVP, T2FR2, and VR2WC. DUP 256M6 is for TPM parts T9CVK & K6K71.
Security_Firmware_2XHC3_WN64_7.2.4.1_A00.EXE | 9.51 MB
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for confirming the correct file. Even checking for updates directly from the iDRAC attempts to use the wrong file Security_Firmware_256M6_WN64_7.2.4.1_A00_01.EXE instead of Security_Firmware_2XHC3_WN64_7.2.4.1_A00.EXE. I will plan on manually uploading the correct file during our maintenance window next month. Hopefully the catalog issue that @DELL-Charles R mentioned will be fixed too so it will select the right file automatically in the future.

Hi @Frank Otto,
You can use this for 0PTVP https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=2XHC3&oscode=ws22l&productcode=poweredge-r760xs
Hope that helps!
