R620 operating system windows 10
Is there anyway to adapt a R620 to use Windows 10 for crypto mining?
Thanks in advance

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. I'm afraid there's no way for us to tell if/when you want to use a Client OS to a server. Also there are so many controllers available for R620: https://dell.to/3QjTZPg;

of course.
you can either install windows directly on it using a flash drive with the iso file, just like you would any normal pc.
Or you can create a windows VM using the hypervisor of your choice.

I may have done the impossible, I have been looking everywhere for someone who has done this, yet never found anyone. I did it, it is "getting ready" as I type this.

@smokebomb I have done much sillier things to much nicer servers lol
btw if you install windows on bare metal, they 100% have full GPU support (unofficially).
Here is a R320 with a GTX 680 running 3DMark firestrike.

pci risers make many things possible

just needed another psu for the card
results are eh though

R730xd actually has internal pci power cables, so you can do it cleanly

I actually have 3 more r620's and a r730 or r730xd down here, im gonna convert 2 of the r620s to windows and mine, keep the 3rd one for messing around with, and with the r730 im gonna use it for mining and messing around, by just switching the boot device. also nice setup

i mined monero for a while on a R730xd with dual E5-2699v4.
Just made an ubuntu VM and ran xmrig. Gave the VM about 100GB of ram.
Seemed to be happiest with 16 threads per cpu (32 total) - think it runs out of cache around there.
32 threads gave the greatest hashrate per watt.
Got an average of 12.2 KH/s but the server pulled 405 watts, so if paying for power, it is not very lucrative lol

I'm planning on getting 3 c410x so i can have 16 tesla m2090s per server, and probably gonna get a nicer card for the 730
