R530 doesn't boot with dual e5-2697a-v4 processors

I have an R530 I got with two e5-2620v3 cpus and I decided to upgrade to something more powerful so I got two e5-2697a-v4s. It doesn't boot with them. I have tried either or and it'll work just great, but not with both. I have two 1100 watt PSUs and the BIOS is on the latest. Is this processor not supported? I see so much conflicting information.

Hi,

I'm unsure of the architecture, I'm just assuming the reason about how R530 is not able to support E5-2697A-V, and it's probably the R530 mainboard hardware design. From what I search in internal part number, there are a few V4:

XCCF4 Intel, 3.5GHz, 15MB, FSB 9600MHz, 135W, Xeon E5-2637V4, Broadwell, Server
P8NCN Intel, 3.4GHz, 20MB, FSB 9600MHz, 135W, Xeon E5-2643V4, Broadwell, Server
JYN0R Intel, 3.2GHz, 25MB, FSB 9600MHz, 135W, Xeon E5-2667V4, Broadwell, Server
DVNRW Intel, 2.4GHz, 35MB, FSB 9600MHz, 120W, Xeon E5-2680V4, Broadwell, Server

Hi,

PowerEdge R530 do not support E5-2697A-V4. It only can support up to Xeon E5-2697V3.

Ok thanks for the clarification. Is that based off the TDP? Does it support dual "standard" e5-2697v4s? 2699v4?

Hi,

I don't think it's based on TDP support capability, I checked that both processor's TDP is 145W for E5-2697AV4 and E5-2697V3. I would think it's the capability of the mainboard architecture.

The server support up to E5-2697V3, even E5-2697V4 is not supported. E5-2699v4 is not support.

From what I understand, v3 is one architecture and v4 is another? So then none of v4 would be supported for dual processors?
