R420 BIOS/Firmwares
Hi there, what is the more effective or easy way to update BIOS and Firmwares of an R420 Server...
This server was never updated so all the tools are really old, i even cant login to iDrac because the y use very old Security protocols...
I tried with Lifecontroller via FTP to Dell but its Freeze on connecting.
Also tried with "Platform Specific Bootable ISO, PER420,19.10.00" but is lead me to a Linux CLI Shell.
Thanks!

The problem is that Dell have removed the 12Gen servers from the update catalog at the end of the last year. This is why the current and latest tools cant updating your server any more.
About old iDRAC.... get an older Firefox Portable if you have problems with SSL/TLS.
Normaly the platform ISO is a good way to update a host it is suposed to run without any user entension because its an automatic script .
Whats your current running OS?

Hi there, thanks for the reply, i run the platform ISO and all updates installed fine... but there someones that are still old, like the SAS hardisk, powersupply, etc... after that i manually donwload and install the last server BIOS and LC versions... for the moment i am running Windows 10, but i will install Proxmox on the future.

If you find newer FW Version just download the DUP and try to upgrade trough the OS. Im not sure if a DUP works under Win10 because its not a supportet OS for a PowerEdge but just give it a try. If not try one of the supportet Linux LiveCDs.
There is the Dell Repository Manager which can create self booting ISO and use it in the past... but i always fetch the rescent FW trough the latest dell update catalog. No sure if you can add manually FW packages to the DRM.
You dont need to waste your time with latest OME (virtual appliance (vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM) because that will just fetch the catalog where youre 12Gen isnt included any more.
