R340 OS upgrade to 2022 fails

Hi, have a R340, Boss card with the OS on it, 3 drives as hardware raid.  Trying to go from 2019 to 2022, with files.  Doing it remotely through iDrac.

Update fails with  BSOD at the first boot phase and auto reverts back to 2019, and says “0xC1900101 – 0x20017 installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error in the BOOT operation”.

MS says Error 0x20017 is a driver error, but which one?  The logs don't seem to help much as error seems to not be logged.

Should I try this again with the raid turned off?  Or does the Boss driver need to present during this?  If so How to insert?

Thanks for suggestions.

Happy to report, the next attempt went ahead without errors.   The only difference was to NOT let the installer update drivers before installing ( the "manage how it controls updates" question at the start).

Server works and runs just fine with 2022.  And of course it does, because the real difference in the underlying Win10 OS (1809 vs 21H2), is only frivolous differences.

Windows Server 2022 is not a supported operating system for PowerEdge R340. Not supported does not mean it will not work. As it is not supported it is not validated, hence we can not guarantee that it will work. You can also wait for another Community member who tried this combination to share their experience.

You can refer below link for list of windows operating system supported on various PoweEdge Servers.

Yes I see that.  I also see this Dell document that lays out the Rx40 capabilities, that includes server 2022.

Jasper, were you referring to just selecting the "Do Not Update" in the beginning of the setup before the reboot in the GUI ? or was it something else ?
