R330 - update to iDRAC 2.84.84.84 fails

On a PowerEdge R330 server I tried to update iDRAC firmware from v. 2.70.70.70 to 2.84.84.84 but it failed with the following message:

This Update Package is not compatible with your system configuration

The installation file is iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_G79DW_WN64_2.84.84.84_A00.EXE

Previous updates finished successfully.

Any advice?

Thanks for your reply.

Firmware update has been successful via iDRAC GUI using iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_G79DW_WN64_2.84.84.84_A00.EXE file.

On Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 the update failed using the same EXE.

BIOS was already at the latest version 2.18.

Hello Robert,

Try a flea power drain and do the update again

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed). After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.
