PowerEdge R730 iDRAC Firmware Update Fails (20-30%) - Constant Disconnects, HWC0008 Error
URGENT HELP NEEDED: out of warranty 2017 Dell PowerEdge R730 iDRAC issues.
I'm trying to update my R730 iDRAC (currently 2.40.40.40, Oct 2016). After two failed attempts, the iDRAC is now in a constant loop:
- Update via web GUI fails at 20-30%, iDRAC disconnects.
- Blue iDRAC port light goes out after 5-6 mins, 'network change' error.
- Via USB stick: "iDRAC is not ready, HWC0008 ERROR CODE."
- No rollback option is available.
- Fans spin erratically during disconnects.
I've soft/hard rebooted, swapped cables, and cleared NVRAM. This behavior prevents any further updates (BIOS too). Has anyone experienced these specific symptoms (constant disconnections, HWC0008, no rollback) on an R730 iDRAC? How did you recover?

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell.
Could we try this
Using the iDRAC Settings Utility (Factory Reset):
Press F2 during startup to enter the BIOS.
Navigate to the "iDRAC Settings" section.
Select "Reset iDRAC configuration to default all".
Confirm the reset and the iDRAC will reboot to factory defaults.
and go back to updating the firmware again? Let us know how it goes.
Respectfully,
