Hello thanks for choosing Dell.

May I ask why you had to run the diagnostics?

Also when the system POSTs, do you see the raid controller as well?

Respectfully,

There where no lights showing up on the hard drives. I spoke to the person I bought the server from and after loading this screen he said the raid controller had been flashed to IT.  I ran diagnostic because I was looking through everything and saw it. Everything else runs green check boxes except the hard drives.

There are no hard drives present so he directed me to this site: https://fohdeesha.com/docs/perc.html

after downloaded the files he had me map the to a virtual drive in F2 then load them in F11 to revert the controller back to normal. This is the computers response

This is my raid controller

He is saying he will send me a raid controller that works. Does this sound right to you? What is your opinion on this? Do you have replacement raid controllers and how much are they?

Also my goal is to become an administrator. I work as a software developer. Is there any good books on this server that you are aware of? Also are there any good books in general that you are aware of on server administration and IT? Thanks

Hi,

I noticed that the system setup picture is displaying information such as the Service Tag, Express Service Code, or Serial Number is considered sensitive and personal. Therefore, we request you to kindly remove your post containing pictures, screenshots, or other media that may reveal one of these information.

If the RAID controller is reflashed beyond Dell RAID controller firmware, we can't help much but if the seller is willing to send you a RAID controller, worth a try. From Dell sales department point of view, 12G is too far out date hardware, hence I don't think there is any hardware left to sell.

To my opinion, get a working RAID controller with Dell firmware, PERC H710 (based on the picture you attached). Also, cross refer to this user guide: https://dell.to/4arC3dc  and check if all cables are connected correctly. Based on the first picture, it's a 8X SAS/SATA system, hence refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2. Maybe the cables are loose.
