PERC H710 Mini SSD compatibility
Hello everyone,
I have a PowerEdge R720 server with PERC H710 Mini controller and i would like to replace HDD with SSD without losing any data. Can you please tell me the compatibility of SSD drives with 2TB storage?
Thank you in advance

SamuraiEvo,
While the R720 and the H710 do indeed support using SSD's, the server/controller do NOT support mixing HDD and SSD's in the same Virtual Disk. Which from the phrasing of your question you are looking at doing.
So from your question, you can't remove a HDD from a Virtual Disk made up of HDD's and replace it with an SSD. What you would need to do is create a new Virtual Disk out of SSDs, as you can mix drive types on the controller in their own Virtual Disks, or you can backup the data on the existing virtual disk, then delete and recreate on SSDs.
Let me know if this helps, or if I am misunderstanding your inquiry.

Dear Chris hi,
thank you for your reply. I was thinking to replace drives one by one for rebuild. Like if one HDD corrupted and need replacement. If i do this starting from last HDD it shouldn't work?

Hi,
maybe I miss understood you but we recommend you only to create a bootable backup image and create a new VD and reinstall OS from backup.
