LCD Display not lighting up
Hello,
We have a PowerEdge 1950 that I recently replaced one of the PSU's on. When it booted back up, the amber light on the back was still lit. I pressed the button next to the "i" on the back and the light turned off.
The server powers on without issue and is not displaying any error codes, however now the indicator lights on both the front and back are blank. No blue or amber. Pressing the "i" button on either side does nothing.
I've powered down the device, disconnected both PSU's, and drained the server of power by holding the power button but no change.
Is there a setting that may be causing the "i" lights and LCD display to not light up, or did something get fried?
Thanks,
Paul D.

Hello pdechen,
I would first recommend reseat:
Shut down, Reseat cables at control panel and system board. Check for damaged connectors and cable.

Thank you for the information, I will give that a try.
Would this connection and board affect the backlight for both the front and rear of the server?
Thanks,
Paul D.

Hello pdechen,
See if the rear button got stuck in when you pressed it earlier.
Reseating the cables is a good first step for troubleshooting.
Review the BIOS during POST
Choose - Embedded Server Management
Displays a screen to configure the front-panel LCD options and to set a user defined LCD string.
See what settings are available. The manual is lacking on the deeper menu on this
Similarly during POST enter the BMC/DRAC 5 +
See if you have LCD configuration See what settings are available. The manual is lacking on the deeper menu on this
Next you can try Clear NVRAM - Shut down, Set jumper to the Clear position, power on and Post up to the jumper error, shut down and return to original location.
If you have any custom BIOS settings you may have to reset those after clearing.

Additionally you may reset the BMC/DRAC 5 to defaults.
Enter the BMC on POST press +
Here you can review a system event log for any entries about the ID button and you can choose Reset to Defaults
