I need help connecting to PE1955 DRAC

I am trying to connect  to the DRAC interface of an old Blade enclosure, filled with 1955 blade servers, but I can't figure it out, and i'm kind of a networking noob.

I tried direct attaching my laptop to the ethernet port on the DRAC module at the back of the chassis, but I don't know what ip setting to use when connected to it.

Hi,

Here is the user guide for 1955 and it's chassis https://dl.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-1955_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf . You can refer to page 11 onwards for DRAC setup. You may need to set your client network the same as the host IP (the chassis DRAC) in order to be able to communicate with the DRAC. If you do not know the DRAC IP, you can refer to the user guide for retrieving information from the DRAC via console.

@DELL-Joey C Thanks for the quick response, but I did indeed try to figure it out using the guide, but I don't know what client IP settings to use on my computer, in order to be able to connect to the DRAC, but from your message I can see that I should set something in my IP settings to be able to acces it, but it doesnt work.

I would like to know what to fill in for my Default Gateway, IP adress and subnet mask.

Should it just all be 192.168.0.120?

Bashartkamp,

If you are directly connecting the laptop to the port then you may want to try just assigning the IP address itself to the system, then from the laptop try pinging that IP. If you get a reply then the iDrac is visable to the laptop and you can connect to the idrac via browser.
