Hard drive hot-swap caddies

Does anyone know whether the hot-swap 2.5" hard drives assemblies (SAS drives and caddies) from an Equallogic PS4100 will fit a Poweredge R730?

Thanks

I appreciate that they are not validated, but do they actually fit?

I have an R730 and one of those Equallogic arrays which are being withdrawn from production use shortly and I want to look at whether I can build a standalone server for test use. I don't want to be spending on new drive assemblies - it's simply not worth it given the age of the server and the inflated amounts which Dell charge for parts.

Thanks

Hello davidinyork,

I'm sorry the PS4100 hard drive carriers are not validated on the R730.

This is one that we do have for the R730 if it helps:

Pn#KG7NR - ASSY,CARR,HD,SAS-SATAU,2.5,V3

ASSY Carrier HDD, 2.5 Inch, SAS-SATAU, Version 3

Hello davidinyork,

I cannot say if it will work as it is not validated. You can give it a try to see.

we have PS6110's here and the carriers do NOT work in R730.

Thanks! Looks like the Poweredge caddies are available fairly cheaply on ebay, so I'll look at getting some from there and swapping the drives from the Eqallogic into them.
