"Fatal PCIe error" with NetApp HBA installed (R610)

Hey there,

I'm having trouble getting my test servers up and running.

I have two R610s (1x Gen I, 1x Gen II) with NetApp HBAs (Model 111-00625+D0) installed.

It was possible to boot over an USB drive and install FreeNAS the first time, the installer even detected all drives connected through the HBA. However on every following boot, the server reports a fatal pcie error. This happens on both of my servers (tested with two of these HBAs).

Trying to update the firmware obviously fails aswell, but trying to boot the SmartISO it threw a detailed error: https://imgur.com/a/ng5B1FH

I doubt that both HBAs are actually broken, so what could cause this issue? I'm using a similar (tho not identical) model in another server and it's doing great.

You could try flashing the DRAC and BIOS firmware, but if that doesn't help, there isn't much I could suggest. It may be the case that the server won't work with the card. The older servers were more picky about PCI card support. If you're open to other HBAs, I can help identify something from the part database I have available.
