Dell R740 - There are no virtual disks available

Hi, I have this server working since a few years, no problem, but from one moment to another the vms started to get no response and in the vmware said that the storage was unavailable, in the iDrac shows that there are no virtual disk available, how should proceed to try to recover the previous configuration?

@fsolsona

check the SEL and LCC Logs to check if there are related events like power issues and storage related.

I have never seen that a PERC lost the VD config when up and running. Whats more likeley is when a system restarts(after a power outtage). The config is saved on the RAID Disks and within the PERC. If one or the other gets lost you have to deal with a "Foreign Config". You can import such a config.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

If you are using a PERC, please check the VMware matrix (link below). Normally, VMWARE ESXi does not support PERC, but path-through (such as HBA330)

We also need to know the OS version and your controller model to help you further.

@Origin3k Thanks, doing some troubleshooting and giving all my data as lost, I tried to star over and creating new virtual disk but no chance at that also, at one point I tried to import the Foreign Config and that resolved the issue. I wish I could have seen your response before because in fact, I had a power outage a week before this issue, I don't know how the server keep working for a few days after the power came back. In any case, you response was 100% accurate. Regards.
