Dell R740 PCIe Rebar
Hi,
Any of the firmware bios updates out there that enables rebar support on PCIe on Dell R740 hardware. When I do hwinfo it reports that Rebar is not supported on the motherboard. I find this very weird since rebar has been part of the PCIe standard for sooo long. Am I missing something?

Wow2231,
While I see that Rebar is supported on some Dell laptops and desktops, I am not seeing any Poweredge server that supports it. So it would have to be based on trial and error.
Let me know if this helps.

I have not heard anything about them adding it, but that doesn't mean they couldn't be. Also with us saying it isn't supported, that doesn't mean it definitely wont work in the system, we just don't test it with that hardware, so we can't say either way if it will work or not, thats why I was saying it would be based on trial and error on your part. Now with that being said, I wouldn't suggest that you start fiddling with the inner workings of the system, as that can cause larger issues.

Thanks for the response @DELL-Chris H . Most vendors allow this by publishing BIOS updates due to the hardware supporting it but no software implementation has been released to enable the use of the feature. The extra performance it can provide is useful for virtualization workloads as well with Hyper-V GPUPV.
Do you know if dell plans to release a VBIOS for servers that will allow this feature to be used and if not is there a formal channel through which a request can be made?
I've seen some websites where people have claimed to enable it by fiddling with the BIOS files through reverse engineering. I'd obviously not want to go that route due to the risk of bricking a supported BIOS under warranty and also because it would be in Dells best interest to grow support for using their platforms when these use cases come up

I've checked the BIOS settings and followed the online recommendations for optimized graphics processing support. All settings on the card level reports "enabled" except BIOS resizable BAR. Screenshot provided below
At this point, I am not sure what further can be done to change the status. Again, where can I submit a feature request?
