DELL R720 doesn't work with two 1100W power supplies

Hi, I have a DELL R720 with two 750w power supplies. One of the power supplies stopped working, so I bought two new 1100w power supplies, but when I put the two 1100w power supplies, and I turn on the machine the memory setting screen appears, then it appears setting IDRAC and then the machine turns off and the message "PSU006 Power supply 2 is incorrectly configured" appears on the front display. Can anyone help me with this case? Thank you very much.

Hello Zion Technologies,

Thank you for the part number. PN#0PR21C is for 13gen PowerEdge server such as R730 and has not been validated for 12th gen R720.

The 13G power supply units (PSUs) are the same form factor as 12G PSUs, but are Not compatible. The EPP (Extended Power Performance) label identifies 13G AC PSUs.

I hope this helps in acquiring a validated PSU.

Hi @Zion Technologies,

Can you take a picture of the 1100W power supply Dell PN# label for us to check the compatibility? Are they both having the same PN#?

If you install just 1 power supply, does the server able to turn on and boot into OS? Let me know what is the power supply's firmware version in iDRAC. Dell power supply contain firmware, let me know if both of them match. If they are not matching, please update them.

May I know if the iDRAC/LCC and BIOS are on their latest firmware? If they aren't, please update them.

Hello Joey, thank you very much for your support.

The 2 new power supplies have the same part number and they are identicals. The part number of both new power supplies is 0PR21C.

According to the vendor these power supplies are working and were tested on a Dell R720 server like mine.

Using 1 1100W power supply the problem is the same, after the machine displays the Idrac configuration screen it turns off.

Then i tried to use the power supply with 1 750W power supply and 1 1100w power supply. The machine works but displaying a message about the error on power supply 2.

Using the machine with 1 750w power supply and 1 1100W power supply i managed do to all the firmwares updates using the LCC. (I updated the IDRAC BIOS, the main board bios, both power supllies bios (one at each time), but the error persists.

Hi Charles, thank you so much for your help. I already asked the supplier to change the fonts and now the machine is working. Thank you so much for taking the time to help those in need.

I am not sure if this has been mentions, but power supplies have to have the same or close firmware versions.
