Dell R440 won't reboot - need help
Our production server (Dell R440 ) suddenly hanged up, log in to to Windows Server 2016 is not possible, keyboard not responding as well as the mouse. Pressing the power button won't even respond the only possible solution was to unplugged the cable from the PSU. Unfortunately, it did not go well.
Pressing the power button won't turn on the server. We have tried the following solutions gathered from iDRAC page as well from Youtube.
1. Power drain - unplugged PSU cable and network cable just leaving the monitor and keyboard, hold down power button for 20s - No luck.
2. Remove the cmos battery and do a power drain and left for an hour, re-seat the cmos battery and reconnect the power cables - No luck.
3. Connect to iDRAC via web using the IP 192.168.0.120 was successful using the credential root and calvin as default.
4. On the Dashboard there is no specific problem on the hardware parts all are green - except for the RAM, CPU, HDD which do not have a green check.
5. Updated the iDRAC firmware from version 5 to 7 was successful.
6. Updating the R440 BIOS firmware through iDRAC - FAILED, repeated several times after 98% FAILED.
7. Powering On the server through iDRAC - Failed
Is there any other way to power on the server on board level? Any help is already appreciated.
Here is the details of the IDRAC on R440.

I am having the same issue on a Dell R740. I cannot update the BIOS because the server does not respond to power commands. The iDrac has been updated and seems to work without an issue. I have removed all of the peripherals, reset all the memory, removed the PSUs, and drained the powersupplies without any resolution. Anyone else have the issue?

@LL_Tom
Our IT team did the same thing too but to no avail. Today, we will try to connect to the server using openSSH and explore every possible server commands. I will give you an update later.

Hi @LL_Tom,
No luck booting up the server remotely, here is the log on the iDRAC Job Queue. We use the following tools.
1. RACADM
2. openSSH
3. PuTTY

I am having the same issue on an R740, too (does not reboot). I wanna just reinstall a new OS remotely through iDRAC. Do you know whether it is possible and, if yes, how to do that? Thank you.
