Dell R310 Fan Error after replacement and switching around

Im having a strange issue with my R310, it was running fine then fans pinned to 100%. On the servers screen it said that 2 fans have died (1B and 3A I believe).

After replacing both, it still says 3A is missing or zero RPM, I have tried switching fans around on the server and it always gives an error for fan 3A.

Is there anything I can try, or is it the fan controller on the board that has packed up after all these years?

Hello,

hope your doing good.

For the powerEdge 310 looks like the system has 5 fans in total.

Have you added any third party components to the server apart from the original configuration??

Try a working fan in slot 3 to check if the fan is being detected.
if the working fan is still not being detected, perform a flea power drain on the server

- flea power drain( disconnect the power chords and the network cables from the server press and hold the power button on the server for 30 sec reconnect the cables wait for idrac to initialise and turn on the server )

-if the fan is still not seen could be the issue with the slot.

@Sakshi_B Thanks for your response

I dont have any third party components in the server, its a pretty bare bones setup.

I have swapped out the fan multiple times, and same issue.

Ill try the power drain and let you know how it goes.

@CalmSauce

collect the storage logs from LCC to isolate the point of failure.

reboot the server press f10 > life cycle controller > hardware diagnostics > start log collect.

Also make sure you have all the firmwares up to date.

Regards.
