Dell PowerEdge MX7000 Chassis coin cell battery is not working

Hello,

The log is showing the Coin Cell battery in the front panel is not working, can I just go ahead and remove the right control panel ear and replace with new Panasonic CR1025 coin battery?

Understand the whole procedure would include backing up of the chassis configuration and restoring it.

Good day!

Would like to check on this note for clarification, would you be able to advise?

NOTE:The right control panel contains the CMOS battery and the whole unit needs to be replaced if the battery fails.

@SO31

Hello if you are asking whether to choose just replacing the batter alone between the whole unit, as long as you can remove the battery separately, you can go with the former.

@DELL-Young E

Thanks for the follow up, I will try  the battery replacement first and see how it goes.

@SO31 came here to post the same thing.  Confusing verbiage in the manual. https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/poweredge-mx7000/mx7000_fsm/critical-call-outs?guid=guid-b7f45038-6b0c-4d12-9065-1a96b7567421&lang=en-us

Like, what else could "whole unit" mean?  It's a $2 battery, why all this FUD?  Nobody assumes "whole unit" refers to a battery, just get rid of this note!
