DELL PE R640 and direct attached disks

Hello board,

I run a fleet of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS production servers, running on DELL R640 servers which were never equipped with a RAID card. Unfortunately, without a controller card, iDRAC will not detect the health status of the disks (two in RAID1 S/W mode). I want to try and install DELL iSM but before doing so, I must run a test as PoC on a spare Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server running on a DELL R640. This one however, is equipped with a PERC H730P Mini controller card for storage. Is there a way I can disable this card and connect the disks to the server to set them up in software RAID1 mode?

Does the architecture on DELL R640 allow me to switch from PERC to Direct Attached storage?
