Can't reset IDRAC IP

Hello,

This is my last resort after trying a bunch of things to access my IDRAC. I had an issue where my OS wouldn't load 1/4 times, so I tried to fix it by accessing the IDRAC config to see what was going on. I plugged in a laptop through the front USB IDRAC port and tried the generic IP 192.168.0.120, but still wouldn't get anything back.

Resetting it didn't give me much more success. I tried to disconnect any network cables to make sure it wouldn't try to get a new one through DHCP, but still nothing. The machine I'm having the issue on is a T140.

The iDRAC USB Port uses the fix IP of 169.254.0.3 [1]

The dedicated iDRAC on the back of your Server have the default IP of 192.168.0.120.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

"I plugged in a laptop through the front USB IDRAC port and tried the generic IP 192.168.0.120, but still wouldn't get anything back." - I say this is wrong. iDRAC direct has different IP

PowerEdge: How to Use the iDRAC Direct Feature | Dell Australia

This article explains how to use iDRAC9 Direct to manage your PowerEdge server.

"Wait for the laptop to obtain the IP address 169.254.0.4. It is always the same IP address. It may take several seconds for the IP addresses to be acquired. iDRAC acquires the IP address 169.254.0.3."

@Origin3k I just tried the actual IP you gave me, and nothing happened as well. Even following the steps and trying the back of the server had no result.

@DELL-Young E Thanks for the reply! Waiting didn't seem to get me anything, even after a dozen of minutes. I plugged in the usb to my laptop and left it for a while, but even after that trying to access the Web UI had no success.

We try the iDRAC direct connect on a new and shiny R570 and also didnt got it working.

@user_c96e33

if you have a OS running you can try the iDRAC Tools where "racadm.exe" is included. Which this tool you can show the current IP settings and also re-configure them through the OS with the need of restart the server.

@Origin3k I have a laptop with Windows installed, I'll try to install those and see if I get anything. Thanks!
